Melasma
Melasma is a condition that is known as the 'mask of pregnancy'. It is due to hormones which trigger the overproduction of melanin (the substance that gives skin its colour), forming dark patches on the skin. It effects mostly those from Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds. This form of pigmentation is stubborn and can take along time to treat, often lasting months or even years if left untreated.
